Next we’ll discuss those wonderful dedicated macro lenses. These lenses can range from 50mm up 180mm. They are great to use and makes the job of shooting macro pictures very easy. But, as mentioned before, you’re going to pay for the convenience. Dedicated lenses can range from mid to high hundreds of dollars. My 100mm Canon macro cost just shy of $400.00. Now, as I said before, there is not too much you can do with a macro lens since it’s pretty much for ‘macro’ photography, but the smaller macro lenses that are in the 50mm-100mm range also make great portrait lenses.

So if you want a lens that can do double duty then go for this option. Here’s an example of a portrait taken with the 100mm Canon Macro lens. As you can see it does a great job on portraits.
