Macro photography is a style of photography that gets you right into the action. So what does macro mean in the photography world? Well, it basically means that you’re shooting at a 1:1 magnification (AKA life size). So, if you take a picture of a ladybug that is 5mm long; when you look at the print you’re going to have a photograph of a ladybug that measures 5mm long. Most people consider the 1:1 as macro and all other magnification as close-up. Some of the shots you take in this style put you within inches of your subject and can produce amazing pictures. It’s amazing what a little change in distance can do for you.
