The next, in your Layers Palette you'll want to turn off visibility of the Gold layer so that the Red layer is now visible. To turn off visibility simply click on the eye icon to the left of the thumbnail of the Gold layer image.

Visibility

It's now time to edit the layer mask. You'll want to make sure that you are editing the layer mask itself. To do this, simply click directly on the white rectangle to the right of the thumbnail of the layer that you want to edit. To edit the Red layer, click on the white rectangle to the right of the Red thumbnail in the highlighted Red layer in the Layers Palette.

Highlight Red

Using the paintbrush (with the foreground color on black and the background color on white), mask out the entire inside of the eyes so that the whites and color portions of the eyes are entirely blue. To learn about "masking" and the effects and benefits, you can always refer to the Masking tutorial also found here in the Tutorials Section. You'll see that by painting with the black paintbrush it masks out (or hides) the red color from the layer, revealing the blue layer underneath.

Painting

Next turn on the visibility of the Gold layer. To do this simply click in the box where the eye icon was to the left of the thumbnail for the Gold layer. We're now going to edit this layer. Using the same procedure as you did while editing the Red layer, make sure you highlight the Gold layer in the Layers Palette and click on the white rectangle to the right of the Gold thumbnail in the Gold layer. This insures that you are editing the mask, not the image itself.

Gold Painting

Using the black paintbrush mask out the color portion of the eyes (revealing the blue underneath). Also mask away the gold from the lips (making the red layer now visible). This will increase the red color of the lips in the final image.

Blue Underneath

Here, you can also add a bit of depth to the final image by reducing the amount of yellow on the cheeks, tip of the chin, tip of the nose, and perhaps the temples. This will add more pinkish hue to the final image. To do this simply select a large brush, set at about 10% opacity, and using black as the foreground color, touch lightly the cheek, chin, tip of the nose and temple areas. You'll see that the faintest of pinks will show through from the red layer.
