Hello everybody, i was amazed from this tutorial and i tried almost 2 days long, and i also was unable to build the white square according to the description, but i found it out how this would work.
creat 1x white layer " CTRL BACKSPACE "
creat 1x black layer " ALT BACKSPACE "
DRAG both layers under the background or dolphins layer.
creat an empty layer name it "FRAME", click on this frame layer, and then mark the area of your desired frame.
Then...
With the selection still active " frame ", go to Select/Modify/Contract... and type in a 15. Hit OK and then delete the area in the middle (press the delete key on your keyboard), leaving only a white frame. Hit Ctrl+D to deselect or go to Select/Deselect.
Then you should have the desired frame with white area inbetween.
Regards
Martin

I followed the instructions, but for some reason I couldn't create a white square with the marquee tool behind the dolphins. I checked and re-checked all the steps to no avail. It makes me sooooo mad!!!
