but i wanted you to see it and give me some critics on it to learn from it
thx for your help

VERy good Siouxie. Sorry you missed the contest. You would have surely given the others a good run for the money.

This is nice, Siouxie! A couple things I see...

The first thing I would have done was to remove a bit of the artifact in the original black and white image. I don't know if you use Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, but with PSP it's just a matter of clicking Effects ----> Enhance Photo ----> JPEG artifact removal. I know it's not always easy to find a good quality black and white image, but removing some of the artifact from a lower quality image goes a long way to improving the image itself.

The next thing, I would make the skin color less like the hair color. Maybe you could remove a bit of the reddish tint from the hair. Just removing a hint of the red from the hair will make it seem less like her skin tones. I'd also maybe make her lips just a little more red to help distinguish them a bit more from the skin tones.

There's a spot on the right side of her neck that you colored the neck color, but I think it's actually a part of the pillow, or chair that's behind her. I think the photograph has kind of dulled the line of her neck a bit so it's kind of hard to tell.

I love the color of the eyes, and I like that you chose a vibrant green for the background. It's a nice contrast to the pink of her dress.

Overall you did a really nice job!! Too bad it was too late for the contest!! I hope you'll do one for the next colorization....you just KNOW we're gonna have more. :)

Thx Jolt and Silky, i tried to find a better photo but it isnĄt so easy as i thought and i wanted to try it with an old picture and not a new one, what is much harder to find in good quality

it makes work harder with details, because it pixels up as you try to zoom in closer

thx for the tipps, and iĄll really love to drop for the next contest in this form

Siouxie, I know a great spot for some of the old black and white photos. If you're interested, let me know. :)

I'd be interested in your black and white photo spot. Does it have movie starlettes by chance? :.

Nice coloring, Siouxie. Listen to Silkenfairy, she's the best. I like the contrast of colors you used. The spot behind her neck jumped out at me also. I don't think it is part of her hair but part of the chair.

There are two other small changes that might enhance the photo more. The pillow she is leaning on could be shaded a darker pink. Same thing with the afgan covering her lap and left arm. Right now they look like part of the dress.

You did a good job on the photo. I look forward to competing against you in the next coloring contest.

Is it possible to get an opinion on an image you are planning to enter into a contest?

Go here (http://www.pixeladdiction.com/pp/showgallery.php?cat=503) and upload the image you want advice on.

Actually, don't post your contest entries in any of the forums before or during the contests. If you want an opinion from someone, feel free to contact one of the other members and ask them for their opinion and any hints they might have to improving your image. That way, contest entries are kept "anonymous" until AFTER the contests are over. :)

Lovely Siouxie....I can't even get the tutorial right, can't seem to understand alot of them...very very frustrating as I have longed to colour since first realising there was an option to do so...

Maiden...is there any way I could help you understand the tutorial better? I think if you ever got through it once, you'd realize how easy it is. I'd be glad to set a time to meet you in the chat room to talk you through it, if that would help!
