I have 4 group photo's of myself my brothers and nephews and my grandmother who sadly died very recently.

Id like to try and get a couple of the images on one print to give to my brothers i wonder if anyone could point me to some tutorials or techniques to do this.

All portraits are on white backgrounds so easily selectable.

I will try and get the images scanned in asap

Cheers

What you need to do depends on the source images you have, good quality sharp images would be an excellent starting point but isn't usually the case.

Show us what you have to work with (you may need to post large images to an external image hosting site and link to them in your response).

For tutorials you need to look for extraction, selection and blending techniques just for starters. One of the most important things to get right when merging two different images is the lighting and shadows of the merged subject, they can make or break the result.

Well I hope you have much much better scans than those else you might as well simply use a pair of scissors and a pot of glue. :)

So lets assume you do have higher quality images (correctly orientated), from the three I've seen it should me a simple matter of creating a new image by deleting the white and using layers to put each group in front or behind the other groups. Because the backgrounds are plain white at present that should be easy PLUS you could then add any background you like.

BTW posting them on photobox is far more "public and on the web" than posting them here where it's much less exposed (sadly). With the image sizes you've shown me you could post them as attachments and, if you really must, remove them later so you would remain in total control of their display.

Your the only person who has that album link so i think anyone else would only find it if they are looking at my pics or the mosaics i sometimes sell.

I'll post the full images here asap .

Im at work but heres one i saved from my photobox account i think only i can see the full image (i forgot its sdcaled down for public use)

Im pretty sure i used the optimum scan resoloution .

A 300 dpi scan is usually good enough, all you need do with that one is trim those edges. It should be very easy to breka up into individual groups.
