I have some rechargeable batteries for my camera and a recharger! :) , I also carry some Duracell non-rechargeable batteries. I tend to use the former as backup for the non-rechargeable ones.

But this is the question ....

Once you've recharged your batteries how do you keep them charged? Mine tend to drain quite rapidly and then let me down when I need them

How old are the re-chargable batteries? I have experienced, at least with Kodak equipment that rechargables need replacing after about a year or so.

Although, once fully charged they last in my camera for at least a week and I get about 270 pictures from them. One thing that will drain the batteries faster than just shooting many pictures is turning the camera on and off, on and off...if you use it that way, turn it on take a shot, turn it off....turn it back on for another shot, turn it off etc. the batteries will die much, much faster. That power on sequence seems to zap the life out of batteries.

I have had the opposite experience as suemack>>>I actually returned to using re-chargables (from a cost stand point) they lasted longer and required less replacing.

Dave be sure to use whatever the manufacturer specifies for battery type. my camera will take the standard AA rechargables and a NiCad style, but it should specify battery type / model for each. Hope this helps! :)

I will certainly check the battery type recommended.

However, last night as we were put on imminent arrival standby for our grandson I put the very recently fully charged unused batteries back on charge, 8 hours later they were still charging and they hadn't even been put into the camera!

So how should I store them to stop them draining even?
