I find it easier to use the method of selecting both objects and selecting the Blend option from the menu (Object>Blend>Make) Also, make sure that you don't have a stroke color on the objects. Sometimes Illustrator will put a very thin black stroke on your object when you create it. Maybe the blend tool is picking up the stroke and not the fill? Anyway, I got mine to work (but I have CS3 though I don't think the blend tool changed all that much since CS2).

exactly.
Blend tool hasn't changed in many versions.

nup mine just keeps changin to the color without the gradient & if I try clickin gradient again it goes back to no color...I have broken out the book coz obviously it's pointless upgrading if I can't get somethin this bloody simple  So will just go through the manual & see what I can find???
Has been fun havin you doi n it too but so thanx heaps
hey no fair most of the illustrator tutes are for CS3 :(

well, I had to give it a try. A bit tougher to make text look glassy, not the greatest, but better than I knew how to do before...and yup, I just had to get carried away with effect...all in fun:)
Now there's an idea for a competition .... illustrate your PA name .... damn the secrecy! :)

WoW!!! That looks pretty darn kewl! :D Geez have been so busy I bet I have forgptten how to do that now, must start spendin more time in the office & less outside :)
"Outside" .... what strange concept is that?
Whoa! I've never used Illustrator, I love the look of those spheres. I think I may have to break out the spare grey cells, and break into the piggy bank.
There will be a trail version somewhere I'm guessing, I'll have to test it out. Great work GraphicallyPut and burndog and thanks for the inspiration.
