Question about Pixel Stash/Photo Montage Contest

Are photos in the Pixel Stash submitted by the photographers or are they made up of winners of various contests?

Also, did I read the rules of the Pixel Stash Beginner contest wrong? I thought entrants had to choose from the pictures of the four photographers that were mentioned. When I voted this morning, I noticed that most of the entries used other photographer's pictures.

Still learning here, please be patient. I may ask a lot of questions before I feel comfortable to take any liberties....

Haven't read the contest rules myself but to answer the first part of your question the Pixelstash images are made up of photographic contest entries where the author has given his or her permission for the photograph to be used in the described manner during the submission process.

For the second part I would not have thought the contest was limited to a select few authors as that would impose a serious limitation on the contestants. If you made such an observation I trust you rechecked the rules before voting or before allowing your vote to be unduly influenced by your supposition .... :D

a bit off the subject, I know, but just wanted to say to photonut, a big congrats on gold with your simple leaves image...just plain awesome, love the colour, textures and arrangement. Nice work.

Egads, I did misread the rules (insert red face here).

It did not, in any way, influence my voting for the contest. I love seeing everyone's creations and always vote as fairly as I can with my limited knowledge of the processes that it takes to get to the end product (most of mine is trial and error).

And Burndog, thank you for the kind words on my contest entry. I was thrilled to win and it means a lot that I am able to compete with such an accomplished group. I am having such a good time and enjoy sharing my creations with all of you. Best of all, I am learning new stuff. That's the best fun for me.

It may take me a while to get into the inner workings of the contests and forums, but I will get there some day....
