Are we allowed to add other elements (e.g.) furniture, room, people, etc.) to the image we make for the Outrageous Origami contest? Also, can we skew and otherwise distort the shape as long as it's recognizable as the same basic shape?
I suggest you review the previous origami contests. The standard is quite amazing for certain.
I know skewing, distorting and changing the color of the basic shape is fine ....
Just have fun with it. :)

This contest states: "Using your best Photoshop skills, and your ability to create using just one shape, your task in this contest is to use the provided shape (themepost) and create an image using ONLY that shape. You may color the shape, enlarge it, make it smaller, rotate it, invert it, etc. but you must maintain the original underlying shape. You may copy the shape as many times as necessary to create your image...but you may NOT use any other shape or objects in your image."
The prior ones also stated that you could use distortion and skewing--which opens the door wide for what can be done.
Does this mean that the 'etc.' allows distortion and skewing?
If so, what else? I prefer a clearly defined set of rules.
At least I think we agree that other objects (people, furniture, rooms etc.) are not allowed.
Distortion and skewing .... needs to be confirmed.
Creativity is an absolute must for sure :)

Well, Distortion and skewing have certainly been used in the previous contests. The rules state "your best Photoshop skills", what about Illustrator?
Definately, I'm pretty sure Scott's entry was an Illustration.

Distortion and skewing were used in the prior two contests, but the instructions for them specifically stated that it was allowed.
The issue here is in the interpretation of the 'etc.' Otherwise, only size, color, rotation, and flipping is allowed.
Someone needs to clarify the rule before entries come in.
