I am looking at a program called "Camtasia" for a project I am working on.

The project is a software instruction program with on screen tuts that work with a manual. The client wants the user to be able to download the tuts only after paying for the manual.

Camtasia looks pretty good for this...but I am wondering if anyone has any real world experience with this application?

Have you looked for some reviews or comparisons with alternative products? Try a Google search.

I came up with an apparantly good comparison/review between Adobe Captivate and Camtasia here (http://www.streamingmedia.com/article.asp?id=9393). Just don't take that as a recommendation :)

Yup, Dave.

I saw the same review. Thank you for the post!

I was more interested in someone who had actually USED the program. My brain hurts from all the new software I have been learning. And if I have to learn one more program...I want to ensure that it's something worth learning.

ARGHHH...

Hey David,

Although I've never used it specifically, I've known many that have used Camtasia for a wide variety of things. It seems to be very solid and workable. Some of the traders I worked with in my last full time position used Cantasia to create online tutorial videos then exported to Flash. IT all seemed to work pretty well. and if they could do it I'm sure you can better.

I've worked with Camtasia and it is a very solid program for what you want to do. I did some prototype online tutorials for the college I used to attend to show students how to use the online side of their classes. It doesn't take long to learn. I learned it in a couple of days. Another neat feature is that you can import Powerpoint presentations and work off of those or convert them into a video clip. What it does is basically record everything you do on screen. The in-program tips are very helpful and the program practically tells you what to do.

i used it and i must say it is really very good, especially for tuts
only thing you really have to do, write yourself like a little storybook before you start recording to make sure you won´t forget anything while doing the movie :)
