I don't know squat about the program...
I tried to make a template for a 12 business card sheet (11"x17") in InDesign but when I imported a .psd file of the card (I used the place command,) it came out really pixelated. How should one import files from PS or Illustrator into ID? (...and why can't you just jump to ID from PS like you can with IR?)
ps_ yes I know I should be making the card in Illustrator, but I don't know squat about that either and it was a rush job for my better half.

Chances are the psd isn't the proper resolution. for printing your psd should be at a minimum of 300ppi. Check Image > Image Size in Photoshop. Indesign just shows you what's imported, it's not altering the image at all.

And there's no reason to think you need to make the card in Illustrator. 70-80% of the cards I do are done in Indesign.

Yeah, resolution. I'll check but I'm sure it was 300dpi.
As for the card, I just meant that PS prolly isn't the best place to do it.
Thanks again, Scott.

Check the display settings in ID as well 1-9. ID has the ability to display placed images at low quality to speed up screen refresh.

There are two places - document level and object level
View > Display Performance and Object > Display performance

lol
We just covered display settings today in class. I think we have found the issue.
Thanks again for the great tips. Is there anything you don't know? :)

I'm not sure if he knows all about auto repair, but when it comes to Adobe graphics, I doubt there is little he doesn't know about.
