Theoretical question ....

Assume you run a website hosted on a fee paying server and you get exceedingly high charges for bandwidth usage way beyond your reasonable expectations based on site activity.

Can you tell if the excess is caused by incoming data packages as opposed to data being taken from the site one way or another?

Would you be readily able as the site owner/admin to review the usage and identify what it was and where it was coming from?

Could you read the data that was causing the high volumes of traffic?

Reason - I've once monitored website traffic and the basic site tools told me what was being downloaded in a fair amount of detail. Basically I knew precisely what was being taken from my site by downloads to other computers or whatever. What I don't know is that if data was coming into the site could I readily see what it was and where it was coming from?
