I know Jolt, you never use the thing,
but I use it tons and I have a problem that seems to be specific to version 7.

I often get a weird black vertical line on images/layers that have transparent imagery.

Any one else?

I use it occassionally. :)

Odd lines appearing in images are a symptom of bad ram or a bad drive or working off of a server instead of a local drive. Not sure if that's the case for you though. I don't have 7 loaded anymroe so I can't really test.

off a server. Damn you're good! thanks uncle jolt.

I got a couple quark 6 questions but there is no quark forum.
once or twice, my page and my entirer pasteboard became filled with horizontal grey lines. Any clue what this means?

Also, Is there any way in 6 to "save as text"?

Thanks to all that attempt an answer.

ooo I can't help with Xpress6 at all. I switched form Xpress4 to Indesign. :) I won't ever go back either.

Sorry. If you need Xpress help the best place on the web I know is www.desktoppublishing.com (http://desktoppublishing.com/boards/default.asp) (yeah the name sucks but they've got some knowledgable people surfing the forums there).

Does not.. it kills. Native support for ai and psd files... and transparency... you don't know what your'e missing. ;)

i was forced onto it for three months. Produced about 4 design pieces and did production on two more. I find it has just about the same page layout functionality as illustrator which compared to quark, is too bulky. And when is Adobe finally going to merge all their keyboard commands into one master set? :) Don't get me wrong i have adobe stock and all.

Was that ID2 or CS? 2 did kind of suck, but 3 is much better. I'll admit Xpress 4 is faster than IDCS. But speed isn't everything. I can't comment on Xpress 6, never used it.

it was id2. i'll have to try 3.

x6 is not much different on the print side. a few bells and whistles but 85% like 4

Quark? InDesign? Forget that! I use Word. Or FrontPage. And If I'm doing a really professional piece, I may just whip out good-ole PowerPoint.
