View Full Version : wut is this and how do i fix it??

we had a problem on one of our computers suddenly and cant fix it, or know wut it is...i screen shotted wut it looks like. Any help/info on fixing it will be appreciated! We are running OS X 10.4.2

i have no idea, it just showed up.....but we discovered if you try to rename the files the real file name appears but when u click off it it goes back to the A's. And also none of the programs will open.....

she was having problems contecting to the printer, then restarted and when it loaded back up the A's were there....its the file names and the menu bar, and also some dialog boxes.....its weird

hmm.. strange problem you got there. but isn't it impossible for a mac to get a virus now? I mean I thought I read that somewhere.

impossible? There's no such thing as something -immune- to all viruses!

It's not a virus. There's no such thing for the Mac that I know of. At least not in over a decade.

Not immune, just none out there. THe Mac market share isn't large enough yet to get hackers interested in virus coding for it. In addition the Mac does have two specific options that keep it exceptionally secure in terms of virus and spyware. It's not impossible, but it's very, very, very, unlikely.

It may be a corrupt font.

If you log in as another user does the same problem exist?
Is there a reason you're still using 10.4.2 rather than 10.4.7?
Have you repaired permissions lately?

yea scott that was it, it was a corrupt font....we ended up fixing the problem....thanks everyone for your help
