View Full Version : A little clearity on what's appropriate for contests.

Just thought I'd offer a little clearity.

#1) we are not a church

#2) we are not a day care

#3) we require members be at least 13 to join.

#4) PA is owned by normal people, we aren't over zealous about the occasional innuendo or off-color humorous image. We have a sense of humor just like everyone else has, hopefully.

#5) we DO require that images do not contain explicit sexual content. This means nudity, scantily clad females or males or graphic sexuality for the sake of sexuality are not permitted. Artistic nudity is judged on a per-image basis. Ask an admin if you are unsure.

#6) Offensive language is frowned upon. In contest entries or comments on entries we ask that you simply not use it. It IS NOT permitted in images. Actually your images should never contain text unless the contest specifically asks for text in the image. "Frowned upon" does not mean "prohibited". There are certain instances where a few off-color words would be okay. This does not mean you can cuss up a storm and get away with it. We're adults, we assume you all are and can handle yourselves appropriately without being monitored 100% of the time. I don't give a shit if a word slips in every now and then in the forums. There's only the f-bomb that's filtered.

#7) We consider ourselves rated PG-13 (not G-rated). Content does not have to be child safe

#8) We assume everyone is mature enough to honor #5 and #6 and know what's going to be inappropriate. And if you're unsure, ask an admin. We aren't scary people.

Now reading all of the above. I want everyone to know that I'm a down to earth kind of guy. I'm not offended by some slight gutter humor from time to time. It's not my intent to have a site that's good for children under the age of 10. Not at all. In my opinion they shouldn't even be on the internet. Even at 15 it's questionable whether I'd let my child use the net unsupervised. Not that I have children or care at all what you feel is appropriate for your children.

ANY image which adheres to #5-7 above (and meets the FAQ guidelines on appropriate images) is okay, REALLY. This site is about fun folks. Not about watching every thing you say and do to be certain a 4-year-old would be okay with it. We aren't baby-sitters and I don't want people to feel that normal conversation has to be watched for language or images need to watch their humor. Images need to watch CONTENT not message. I really don't care if you create an image that has the filthiest message ever as long as it adheres to content guidelines. Chances are a 5 year old won't "get" the message anyway as long as there is no inappropriate content in the image. Humor is ALWAYS offensive to someone somewhere. Always. We won't allow abuse, but humor is really okay.

In short... Lighten the **** up some of you.

and no politics!

So thats no religion, no sex, no kiddies and no politics.

Beers all round then! :)

Seriously .... there are several good examples of acceptable "nude" art on the site .... I'll try and give links to them by way of demonstration .... if someone doesn't get there before me.

Well it is past my bedtime

Religion and politics ARE allowed in images within reason. Nothing completely defamatory though. In the forum, they're just really argumentative topics.

I know I've been really busy with work the last few months, but what did I miss?

Didn't really miss anything. I just wanted to clarify. Sometimes I get the definite impression some users feel this site is meant for children under the age of 10. While we try to remain family-friendly, we don't wish to go overboard with that aspect :) We're more of a high-school-family-oriented site :)
