I have been battling PS CS2 for a while over RAW images (LONG story). While doing so I have been shooting simply in jpeg. I finally resolved the CS2 issue and immediately switched my camera to jpeg + RAW mode. What I get are 2 identical jpeg images. I can shoot in RAW only and get RAW format pics, but the RAW + Jpeg results in duplicate Jpegs. I recently upgraded the firmware on the camera, but I have no idea if this is the culprit. Anyone else heard of this?

What version of firmware are you on now (I believe it should be 1.0.3)? .... the blurb I'm reading makes no mention of your issue as a fixed problem.

Thats just it. I was using whatever version that came with the camera (1.0.1?) and it was fine. I upgraded to 1.0.3, but because of CS2 issues I never shot in RAW + jpeg format. Two months after upgrading the software, I go back to using the RAW + Jpeg option, and the above happens. I suspect the upgrade caused it, but I have no definite proof. The firmware is the only thing I changed on my camera.
It seems you are not alone :)

Well, this is sort of it. The CS2 issue was what I was having before. What is described in that thread was why I stopped shooting RAW for a time. You have to download and place the RAW 3.2 in a specific folder (plug in). The problem I seemed to have was I had too many plug in folders and no matter how many folders I placed the plug in into I still could not read RAW files. I got the "not the right kind of file" messages all the time. So I quit shooting in raw. Now I am out to sea and I installed CS2 with the plug in for the first time and it works great. I am able to tweak RAW images all the time now. I think now the problem lies in the camera. I upgraded the firmware in early december, but I did not start shooting in raw again until mid January. When I shoot raw I get a .cr2 image. When I shoot raw + jpeg I get 2 jpeg images. Neither is .cr2. I believe it is due to the upgrade in firmware but since it was so long ago I cannot directly attribute my problems now to that.
I have an email in to Canonand if I ever hear a reply I will post it here.
I hope you find the answer to your problem.
I can only suggest you PM Newby here, though I've not seen him around in a while, I'm not sure where his work has dragged him off to. He did mention a while back he might be involved in the New Orleans levy reconstruction job which is a long way from home for him (but not as far as you are!)
