I do a few jobs at the moment; make beaded jewelry http://www.aglassman.com, create simple websites http://www.yourwebmentor.com, do the books and graphics work for my wife's consulting business, help manage our condo on Maui http://www.walkmauisands.com and take care of the garden and mow the lawn in the summer here in Denver.
On my own website i've been experimenting with various artists tutorials to create sketches from photos; i've created my own action for Photoshop (CS, 7 tested) to help with the steps. It take some experimenting with to find what works for you.

Maybe I'll add it to your tutorials someday, don't hold your breath though.

whoa, Alex, I just adore your stained glass work...very impressive, I'm not much into jewelry, but there are some pieces there that I like as well. I assume that most of the photos on your sites are your own...some very nice photography, hope you decide to enter some of the photo contests.
Oh yeah, welcome to PA...I'm sure you will fit in and enjoy it here.

If you (Maiden) or anyone else needs assistance with that PS action be sure to ask.
After having used it for some months I need to update it; so take my suggestions i've put in along the way, not to seriously. Experiment with all the setting and try other blend mode yourself. Maybe we can have a contest using the action??

Looks very nice, Maiden! Adorable - and the action script is super, Alex! Hope you'll write that one for us as a tutorial, as well!

Looks good Maiden, that very last part of the action is a bit tricky, sometimes I bring down the percentage on it.

Greatings Alex! I just learned it's illegal to have a snowball fight in America. (I've lived in America all my life, and have never heard this. Also, a cop would never do anything about it).

well our snow doesn't stay on the ground here long enough to have a snowball fight. :)
Maiden sent me the original image; my 1st sketch came out more photo like.

I like them both, can't really see the detail in the 1st one as u can see in the orig size one u mailed me... second one though is more sketch realistic & the detail alot more finer than the one I come up with..again gr8 stuff Alex & thanx.
