Hello everyone! Sorry I have been away for some time. Being on a ship in the middle of the Eastern Pacific attemptimg to share 96k with 250 of my closest 'friends' does not facilitate participation in a fine website such as PA.

I am in need of some camera assistance and you are the ones I thought of first. Seeing as it is the middle of summer here I am having some condensation issues. I keep my camera locked up in my stateroom (Rebel xt - wouldnt you?) WHERE IT IS a/c'd to 70 ish. I routinely take my camera outside (90+) to shoot sunsets and other things, but when I do the lenses I have fog horribly as well as the mirror on my camera. My first concern is if there may be any long term damage done with condensation in my lenses or with repetitive temp changes. Secondly, how can I prevent this?

Whatever advice you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Joe

I am thinking Newby is out of town so I'll pass on some advice he gave me. My husband took out digital camera out to shoot some pics when it was well below zero out. The camera shut down and would not shoot again (it did eventually). Any-who, Josh told me too put the camera inside a ziplock bag with a dry towel. And to keep it there if it was not being stored at optimal conditions. The towel was to aid in the condensation issues.

Glad to see ya around & know that you are safe :)! Hope that soon enough you will be able to share some images with all of us.

Another thing (although might be hard at sea) is to put some silica gel (in a cloth pouch, or...as they sometimes come in software or other packed items. It absorbs moisture, and you can bake it to rejeuvinate it.

Hmm... For that to happen, it would seem like moisture would have to be inside the camera. Have you taken the lens off, and left the camera in a dry place so any moisture in the camera would evaporate off?
