Well, it hasn't harmed David Copperfield's career! :)
There was a photography contest in the reflections theme not long ago (I think it was the previous one or something like that).
But if you're talking about PS, that's another thing. But personally, I think that adding reflections to stuff is not supposed to be the main thing in a picture, but an add-on...

I meant more of a 'trompe l'oeil', an optical illusion done by putting a mirror in your chop.
