I have to recreate an existing ad built in Quark. However I can not get the text to layout properly (or as seen in the original ad). I am enclosing two screen shots. The first is the original ads text, the way I want mine to look. The second is the best I can come up with in Illustrator. Also if you can name the font used in the original, that would be great!! I am using Arial Narrow, but doesn't seem to quite look the same. May have something to do with the layout?

Can you modify the spacing (is it kerning?) between the individual characters, that's where the major difference appears to be?

and now over to our expert on font faces and all things Illustrator ....

It's not the same. It may be Helvetica Narrow (Mac based rather than the PC Arial) The big tel tell sign is the uppercase C and the lowercase A and G.

Thank you Gentleman! Jolt- would this have anything to do with the intended layout?

Sorry, I don't understand the question. If you're referring to the extra space in the force justification, it's most likely due to the font itself.

BIG question, why donīt you do the text in quark directly, and do the spacing and kerning there?

yeah, i do believe it is helvetica but not quite sure if its helvetica narrow. if its in pdf i can surely tell what font was used. (if you want to ;))

I did end up using Helvetica Narrow on this project and it was approved. Thanks for your offer Edward and to Jolt as well! :)

Siouxie- I don't own Quark :)

Hi Ldg

In this respect also the "justification", "single line composer" and "every line composer" might be of help: they can all be found underneath the little triangle in the paragraph palette.
