Hi all,
I have a question about the photography contest rules. I shoot raw images and was wondering what if any controls you may use to alter the image. There are a ton of adjustments to be made in the raw mode. These adjustments do affect the entire photo and I wanted to clarify this before using them. Thanks.
Those kind of adjustments are okay I believe.
From the FAQ's
Traditional Contest Guidelines
Acceptable Image Editing
* Camera Editing:Any modification done inside the digital camera itself is cool. This includes settings such as Vivid, Sepia, Black and White, cropping, rotating, etc...
* Tweaking:You can tweak your image in an image editing program but the changes must be applied uniformly to the entire image at once. This includes Levels, Black and White Conversion (desaturation), Hue/saturation, Sizing/rotating, Curves, Cropping, Sharpen, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, Noise and Gaussian blur. Targeting or selecting an area, object, selection or spot is not allowed.
* Want a Border? No problem. It should not include any text, copyright statements, clip art, photographs, or other artwork. But be careful...sometimes a border can do more harm than good.
Unacceptable Image Editing
* Pasting: Please don't cut and paste extra elements into your photographs. This includes extra images or exposures, clip art of any kind, computer-rendered art or pieces of other artworks or photographs (even if they're your own).
* Tools: Absolutely no painting or spot-editing is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to drawing tools, dodging/bluring tools, and cloning/healing tools. Additionally, the use of any type of selection tool is prohibited except to select a non-feathered, non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping.
* Text: Sorry, but no text or copyright statements of any kind may be added to the photograph anywhere.
* Layers: All types of layers and blending methods (modes) are prohibited.
* Artwork: Please don't photograph artwork, sculptures or anything else that can violate another artist's copyright. This includes your own art.
* Nudity: PixelAddiction is work-safe and PG-13 so we will not accept any form of nudity.

As Dave posted.
Basic rule of thumb, if the adjustment effects the entire image as a whole, then it's okay. Spot corrections are a no-no.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I submitted a photo was within the rules. When I learn the in's and out's I'll quit asking questions. LOL..

Nah... keep asking :) We love questions. We'd rather spend days answering them and have you feel comfortable than you be afraid to ask.
