Yes, yes they do. :) But..and now for my catch-all, oft-quoted life's(?) motto I guess :D.."Things could always be worse." lol ..I could have lost so much stuff and/or had no use of my computer at all, yikes!

*sniff, sniff*..and thank you, Silk :D
Oh, but you know..Norton missed it completely. That really surprised me. I am set now tho -- after 4 antispyware downloads and a couple of other something-or-others too, lol. I almost double-dog dare anything to get thru that!

Actually, Seabie, I'm not a fan of Norton anyway. I use eTrust EZ antivirus and have never had a virus infiltrate my computer. It seems to catch anything that people throw at it. As for the antispyware, my sister had a problem with a particularly malicious bug that had to be removed with spyware. It wouldn't allow her to access anything at all...no internet, no programs, nothing. It was a pisser to get rid of, but finally I was able to get her the spyware she needed and she got it removed. People that put that kind of stuff out there should be JAILED!

That is exactly what happened to me, Silk...I was lucky to even be able to download something when it was happening. I wish they could do something about the people who do that kind of stuff too, but I have to take some of the blame for sure -- I should have known better not to have protected myself. What a target I was. :p

/me puts in two cents
I've had norton for three years now, as long as I keep the definitions updated, it's worked like a charm....not a virus it has not caught.

I have Norton and keep my definitions updated too, TC..which is why I was surprised it happened. I looked at the log afterwards, and saw that Norton did detect it, and "stopped the script", but it still came thru somehow.. Unless what this was was spyware and Norton offers no protection against that, I don't know.. I didn't have any antispyware installed at all -- no adaware, no spybot -- I have both now, and then some, lol. I cannot believe how many things were running in the background on my machine..hundreds, literally..that those programs found and helped me get rid of. I'm really lucky things didn't get worse than they did.
The first time I ran Adaware 6.0 it pulled out so many programmes my firewall (Tiny) had happily let through I was amazed. I've also cleaned up the Firewall and removed a load of redundant stuff. Maybe I should consider dumping the AVG virus scanner for something better.
I picked up a bug a couple of weeks back, it took a bit of killing ... well I think I killed it .... :)
