Hello, I'm having trouble getting my scanner to work. I had just moved, unplugged the scanner, and when I hooked it back up its giving me problems. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, updated the drivers, tried different USB ports, tried scanning in different resolutions and color modes, and still no luck. After running a "Scanner Test" it says it passes. There are no strange clicking or any weird sounds like that coming from the scanner when I use it. You think I might have broken it during the move somehow? Anyone else have this problem? this is what the output image looks like after scanning...

Sure wish I could help you out on this one, 1cowabunga! What does your image look like before scanning?

Edit: that has GOT to be the dumbest question I have ever asked....

I've tried to scan all kinds of things. my pencil drawing, a regular document with type on it, a photo... all turn out to be the garbled mess shown above. :(

ooo... I think I might be onto something. I just unplugged the power cord and almost burned my fingers on the end (end that goes into scanner). chances are I might be using the wrong cord? *off to look through piles of junk for the right cord*

Looks to me like the bulb may be broken or some other hardware failure 1C. I doubt that mess is related to a software issue.

What type and model of scanner is it?

ugh... I've been messing with this thing all night. I found the right cord, a 12 volt, and I was using a 13. After hours of messing with drivers and such trying to get the darn thing to be recognized by my system, I finally got the system to read it again. Now I open Photoshop to import the scan, the scanner runs, ... and same problem happens. :'shake': I'm guessing something got fried? I can't believe that could happen with one volt difference. oh and I'm using a Umax Astra 3400.

It's not the voltage that kills you .... it's the amps. Sounds like you've blown a $100 or so,

Sam.. I've got a Umax Astra 3400 that's gathering dust. If you need it, let me know.
