Please could someone help me before I lose the plot (yeah yeah, it is getting close). I am going through Dreamweaver tutorials to teach myself web design.

I am having desperate problems with the help files in Dreamweaver. They open up 'help viewer' on my mac, but it isn't in English, it is more like a mathematical Chinese. The main headers are in English, but all the content is gibberish. I can't find anywhere where I can change it and I am at my wits end now. The International setting in the system preferences is set to English and I can't find anything within the help files to change the language.

Any advice from the pros?

Learning gibberish in a first time...? :D

sorry, I don't have an answer to this, ... maybe you can find something on the web.

Does this explain it?

System Requirements

Starting with the Dreamweaver MX 2004 release, Dreamweaver no longer supports Windows Me, Windows NT, or Macintosh OS 9 or OS 10.2.5 or earlier. Dreamweaver also no longer supports monitor resolutions below 1024 x 768 pixels. For more information, see the Dreamweaver system requirements on the Macromedia website.

It's a font conflict. You've got multiple version of the same font active and it's causing the issue. For me, it's always Helvetica. <s>But I'm on a Mac, I can't remember if your using a Mac or not Libra.</s> uhm.. DUH it's a Mac screenshot.

Yeah you've got multiple versions of a font active.

Thanks Jolt. I have just been through my font book removing duplicates and it hasn't made a difference yet. I have noticed that in my font book there are a couple of fonts that are duplicated in the System X font folder. Is it possible that that is a problem as well?

I really apprciate the help... thank you.

Yup. I have a problem whenever my font manager (Font Agent Pro) turns on Helvetica because it conflicts with the Helvetica.dfont that Apple installs. My solution was to remove the Apple dfont file from my Library folder.

It's definitely a font conflict libra.. just a matter of tracking down with one. I don't use FontBook so I can't really help with that app. I can't even launch it or my fonts will go completely crazy since I already have a better font manager installed.

Thanks Jolt, will try removing the helvetica .dfont from the system. I was using suitcases, but I haven't needed to play with that many fonts lately so I didn't bother buying it after the trial period... still getting to grips with font book myself. ;)

lol, it was my helvetica all along... thank you very much for your help Jolt, it is all fixed now!!!!!!

Dreamweaver is a great program! I've found it to be quite user-friendly, and quick to learn as well. www.pixel2life.com has some great tutorials, as does www.dreamweaverfever.com

Woo Dreamweaver!
