View Full Version : Took me a year to ask...

...this incredibly embarrasing question.

Why??? When you draw with the paint brush, can you not lay down another stroke beside the initial one, without the first stoke either dissapearing or joining in some bizzare way to the new stroke? Is there a way to set the first stroke etc? This one very perplexing delemia has kept me from using Illustrator time and time again. That and I quote from PDG on 9/24/04: PLEASE ** PLEASE ** PLEASE!!!! MAKE THE HANDLE GRIPS LARGER! PLEASE!!!! I'm surprised they haven't done this already to help accomodate the people with poor vision or poor dexterity. (Kind of off-topic, but did they change this in CS?)

I have searched and searched the www and read and re-read my two Illustrator manuals, with no answers to found. For that reason I have not asked this question out of extreme embarassment, cause it must just be so simple!

Double click the pencil tool. Uncheck "Edit Selected Paths" :)

Jeeze Jolt... I knew it would be something so simple. Should I keep the "keep selected" checked or unchecked ?

Btw: Which tool do you prefer for freehand sketching?

Thanks alot Jolt! I realize how busy you are!

I generally prefer the pencil tool. I check keep selected and fill new paths. I set the fidelity to about .5 and whenever I use the pencil tool I immediately use Object > Path > simplify to reduce the amount of nodes it produces.
