View Full Version : wireframes in Illustrator 10
Some of the cleanest vector art I've seen use wireframes, I'm guessing to build on using Illustrator. Dumb question, but, can you create complex wireframes within Illustrator 10, or do you have to use another program first and then import the wireframe.
Peace
check out www.lifeinvector.com to see exactly what I'm talking about. Besides, there is some excellent work to be seen there.

Ahh Brooke's place. Seen it many times.
All Illustrator artwork creates a wireframe. everything you do (except raster images) will construct a base wireframe. The complexity of the wireframe depends on the complexity of your artwork.
Open any illustrator file and choose View > Artwork (or View > Outline in newer versions). This will show you the wireframe that already exists. You can work in artwork/outline mode as well, moving paths around and lining them up perfectly. I often switch back and forth between the artwork mode and preview mode to get things positioned correctly. Command/Control-Y will switch between the two modes.
The wireframes you see on the web were achieved by taking a screenshot of the art in outline mode and cropping them in Photoshop. Currently there's no way to save the wireframe view of a file. I wish there were, I've requested it a few times from the Illustrator team.
Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for.
Peace, Cheers, Ma Halo

ofcourse one could always select everything, copy it > paste in separate layer > no fill> small border line in black.
But alas, you will find that any given mesh, effect or brush will not show in the "wire frame" only "normal" objects....
success
