Nikon F-501

I just got my hands on an old SLR of my father, a Nikon F-501, with many accessiores like a Nikkor AF 28-85mm 1:3.5-4.5 (what does the 1: before 3.5 mean?) lense, a 70-210mm 1:4, a Metz 45CT-4 flasher (its huge). It has been collecting dust for like 15-20 years. There's also loads of filters and a 50mm prime.

I wonder if it's any good so maybe one of you guys can tell me about it?
