Seems like the cost of Internet is going down somewhat. In my area they now offer 3 levels of DSL unlike before.

Here they are (download/upload)
Lite DSL 384k/256k for $34.95
Ultra DSL 1.5mb/256k for $49.95
Extreme DSL 3.0mb/384k for $54.95

Cable offers 3.0mb/256k for $42.95.

I'm just wondering how these prices compare to other regions and countries. So how fast is your connection and how much do you pay?

Not sure about your speed, you can test it here...

I'm on an ADSL connection the bandwidthplace site gave me a speed of 464.5Kb/sec but because it's in the UK it said it was inaccurate .... so.

My monthly cost is £29.99 which is pretty standard throughout the country +/- £2 if you want other packages included, like Digital cable TV and/or telephone services. AOL broadband is the same price. Convert to USD? multiply by 1.8 so thats currently $54 ..... that puts us fairly expensive comparatively. Though the exchange rate is very high right now.

This evening my speed tested at 1.2 megabits. Other tests at other times seem to run about the same for me... anywhere from 1.1 to 1.6. I'm on Bellsouth ADSL, the $40 a month plan. But that is bundled in with a phone services package so it works out to more like 50 a month, and then the hidden charges bring it up to about $55 a month. Well worth it to me for what has been (knock on wood) excellent reliability and really good speed. I could never go back to dial-up!
