OK, this is a little bit behind the times becuase it was announced late last week, but for those of you who don't know, allow me to enlighten you.

Late last week Canon and Lexar announced a "glitch" with the 80x pro cards. According to both companies when a certain rare series of events occur you can lose teh pictures that are in the buffer of the camera. For Canon's EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II if you are shooting in Camera RAW + Large Fine and while the camera is still writing to the CF card if you hit the play button to review the pic you just took you can lose everythin that was in the buffer and the camera will lock up.

As well, the EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II, EOS 20D, EOS Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital / EOS Kiss Digital N have simply been losing images for an unspecified reason. Canon and Lexar said by the end of the month there will be a firmware update to stop this from happening again.

On a sidenote, all I every use are the Lexar 80x pro cards. I have never lost a single picture I have taken. So, don't go rushing out to buy a different brand if this is what you have now. If you're the kinda of person that has to see the image you just shot right a way then increase the preview time after the shot on your LCD. This will give you 8 seconds to check your image without having to go back and hit the preview button.

You can catch the full article on this here (http://photoshopnews.com/2005/05/19/digital-slr-image-disappearance/) with links to both Canon and Lexar for the fixes they will hopefully have soon.
