Quick Question:

If I want to give a printer a photo to print at 8x10 without him having to do any modifications for the size, how do I do it? Do I just hit 'image size' and enter in 8 inches x 10 inches? I have used that automate feature thing to make sheets with different sizes on them but 8x10 is not on the list.

Is it that simple or ??

Hey PG, that's all I do for my photos in PS I just adjust the Pic size down. Just keep in mind that if you go back up in size that you'll start getting distortion. So, save your pic first before resize. Also, if you are using a printing program some will automatically resize the picture to fit the paper. The only other thing I can think of is that in some instances when you chose print you'll see an option to "fit on page" I don't like using this, but it can work, but I usually don't like the results

Well.. this is where ppi is important -- for print. If you want to send an 8x10 then it needs to be an 8x10 at 300ppi. You can go to Image > Image Size uncheck the resample image box and input 8 into the width field (or 10 into height). Then you'll need to check what that does o the ppi. Chances are it'll reduce the ppi to a very low number unless your shooting/scanning at a very high resolution. In order to make a print quality 8x10 you should start with a 2400 x 3000 pixel 72ppi image or greater. Then uncheck resample and input the size. This will reorder the image pixels without altering the image quality in any way.
