I found this today while I was procastinating doing my real job:D
http://www.cybia.co.uk/pseudoir.htm

It's a plug-in for PS that allows you to turn normal photographs into IR photographs. I haven't got a chance to try it out yet, but it looks promising. It's freeware for private and commerical use so enjoy.

And for those hard core PS'ers that want to get the look without the help of a plug-in I have this great little link here (http://www.deviantart.com/view/4595206/).

IR photos can give a really cool look to some photos that you think are just OK, give it a try and let me kow what you think

Hey Swillox, I'm not sure, apparently from everything I have heard and read some companies, Canon included have an anti IR coating on the sensors. This inhibits the IR filter from working. From what I have heard Canon is starting to produce 20Ds without the coating, but I can't be sure if they ever branched out into the Rebels.

Let me do some more research and I'll get back to you later today.

UPDATE
Good news Swillox if found that you can shoot IR with the digital rebels. However, there seems to be some debate about having to modify the sensor or not. Other problems that tend to appear according to these forums are:
Hotspots on pics with the lense that comes with the camera - this was corrected by using a higher ISO , and a UV filter in line with the IR filter.
Long Exposure times - from what I can tell you would need to do 10-20 second exposures (this is going to add a lot of noise to your pic)

From what I have found on a few Canon forum sites all you'll need is a Hoya R72 IR filter or its equivilent. Check out this link

It looks like it a 50-50 shot at sucess

Isn't infra red based on heat? If so how can you change a normal image into an infra red one .....

Here Dave,

An exploration into NIR photgraphy. Mind you the talk a little funny as if IR photgaphy is a zen like experience.

I have the 300d (=Rebel) and use the Cokin IR filter.

Only got the filter last week.
Took it to the forrest last weekend, but didnt had time enough to properly set up things.

But its possible. I have one or two photos that are 'ok' but need lots more practise.

Will show some when i have had time to go out again.
