I swear I read this somewhere in the past two weeks, but I can't find it. When you're resizing a picture, there's a way to keep the pixel size locked, so when you change the resolution, the size in inches automatically adjusts. I have been just changing the resolution, and then retyping in the previous pixel width, which works. It's just frustrating to know there's a better way, and I can't remember it.

I've just gone into Google and it offers quite a choice mainly dealing with Digital Imaging Software but I dont think it answers your question.

All I know is on the web the pixel resolution is 72ppi even if the (hi-res) image is actually 600ppi. you simply get an image that is huge.

In the image size dialog, uncheck "Resample Image. This will keep your dimensions and ppi in the same relation. So if you reduce the ppi increases, if you enlarge the ppi decreases. The actual pixel width and height will not change. So basically this is for printing images. It doesn't amount to much for the web.
