I have a bit of a different idea for a restoration contest. Restoration contests are unique in that everyone is working on exactly the same photo with exactly the same goal: to get it looking like the original as much as possible. Everyone faces all the same problems which can be approached in many different ways.
So I'm thinking along the lines of a "cooperative" contest; maybe it's more like a workshop. We don't get to see each other's work in progress, but people can talk and ask questions. People share their ideas. Techniques are suggested and explained. Discussion is encouraged during the contest.
Libra and I shared some thoughts during our cage match and it definitely added to our experience.
So is this a Kool idea, or Krazy?

There's no restriction on talking with other users about your image in any contest. In fact, you can even show someone your image if you want help working on it. We only ask that you don't show EVERYONE and that you use a bit of common sense when asking for help or discussing the image so as to not try stacking votes in your favor. Asking 25 people about your image is a little overboard. One person is usually enough.
You're always free to start a thread about a contest to discuss it. We only restrict the display of actual images for the contest or announcing which image is yours until the contest is over.
I think it's a great idea to discuss things, especially in those contest which are generally the same image just altered in a unique way, restorations especially fit into this category. Sharing tips and techniques to handle a particularly bad area of the image is completely encouraged :)
Did you have some specific set up in mind d2e2?

That's all good to know. I always thought showing it to someone at PA or talking about it would be kind of cheating. Given what you said, I have no specific setup in mind. Libra and I scored a good photo for a restoration that we didn't use, so that's would be available when PA's ready to do a restoration contest. I guess I worry that if there was LOTS of discussion about the restoration, some people in the contest would be bugged by it.
