Uploading photos

Please HELP! - as much as I have uploaded pics, for gallery contest or forums, I have a problem converting a large, say 2666x2666 pixel pic at 300 Res, to something easily to be seen in any of the venues. Either I get it too small, or even if I go to 72 res and reduce to500 pix wide, I still have a huge file that can't be uploaded. Could someone please help me with a formula or process to get good quality pics at proper proportions?

Image > image size

Check Resample image

Input 72 into the ppi field

Click okay


File > Save for Web

Click the image size tab on the right

Input an appropriate width then click apply below it.

Click save... upload :)


Let me know if that doesn't make sense

Thanks Jolt - I always figured that I would lose resolution, but I see now - I've used saved for web for emailing, etc. Now I got it( as Jaygre bangs her head against the wall again and again, and again.)
