...those tag-lines under the user names in the forums such as 'Etch-a-sketch Elmo' etc.; is there a list somewhere which shows the hierarchy, do they mean anything, should I be offended (lol)?

There is a list, it's way back at the start of the General Forum. It's based upon the number of posts you make in the forums, they don't mean anything other than that .... take all the fence you want I'm building a new wall :)
