How about an open contest with no rules. Just any combination of chopping and/or painting on any topic in any style with the artists own theme. It might be hard to vote for but I'm sure creativity would reign. It might be a good idea to give it a longer deadline (say, a week or so) so that the level of quality would match the level of creativity. You know that project you've always wanted to realize, that idea hiding in the back of your head, that comment you've always wanted to make on life, your own personal view of the world. Let's find out what's really out there. What do y'all think?

i think its a good idea, but for voting purposes i think u need some kind of rules, boundaries, assignment, wutever. Even if its just the smallest thing, something to link the contest together with the entries. Otherwise there is a personal gallery here too to showcase your random idea non-contest work :)

Maybe there could be a common element like 'You must use a bird in your entry, or a toaster, or any such thing.'

This is great idea! And I too agree that we need to have some idea to jump from. Although I can't imagine using a toaster! LOL

i think that the 'freeform' idea you have is a good one...
