Jolt.... (addressing you because you are probably the one who knows ;) )

We have just bought a Wacom tablet since I have been a mouse drawer for years now.... and I am hoping that it will be easier to use - having my doubts right now... quirky little bugger that is off on its own mission.

Anyway my first question of plenty to come - it is a Graphire3, besides the driver software is it necessary to install the other stuff that came with it like:

penPalette LE
Adobe Photoshope Elements 2.0
ACD systems disk
Pinnacle Studio

I am running OSX 10.3.8 and I have CS installed, is there anything in that lot that I would just die without and what is it for?

Nope, you don't need any of that.

ACD and Pinnacle are PC-only, Elements is useless if you have the full version. PenPalette is just a plug in for Photoshop. You can install that if you want.. but it really offers nothing you can't already do with Photoshop.

And remember, put your mouse in a drawer for a week and use the stylus exclusively. It'll be weird but you'll adapt faster and easier that way.

Thank you very much Jolt!!! Mmmmm, put my mouse in a drawer for week and use the alien instrument with a mind of its own? This could be mighty interesting - if you don't hear from me for a week you know I am under the desk fighting a wayward curser.

I will try....

Oh yes and did I say thank you ;)

Whew, I am trying... this is going to be a looooooooong week ;)

It'll go faster than you think. By the end of the week.. you'll forget you even have a mouse.

Since I have installed my tablet I keep hanging on startup. Is there a more up-to-date driver that I should be installing? I usually look at the downloads on the site and never know whether I should be trying them or not. Not very good at making these decisions for my poor little mac.

A Mac, hanging - surely you jest? ;)

lol TrinityOfOne my mac appears to be the exceptance to the rule. It started off in the very beginning when it turned out that BT Broadband drivers are 6 months out of date with OSX software. Very sensitive little creature this.

Libra .... (sorry I'm not Jolt)

Start Here for your driver - http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/select.cfm

yeah go to Dave's page. THere most likely is a newer driver available. Wacom drivers can be finicky. Sometimes newer drivers help sometimes they don't.

I got a Wacom Tablet a few months ago, and had the same initial response as you. "Oh cripes, did I make a mistake buying this." It seemed clumsy, and not at all the boon I expected. Well, I could not live without it now. Trying to do anything in Photoshop with a mouse now seems like tying shoes wearing mittens. Don't worry. You're going to love it.

I brought mine back to the store a week later and I've never looked back.

Well said, D2E! I'm crippled without the tablet!

Plaintive HELP!!!! from a damsel in distress.

How do I toggle the ink that I have accidentally toggled on to off. Can't do a blasted thing without a yellow lined box coming up wanting me to draw on it every 5 seconds and it is driving me dilly. The side buttons are doing nothing, believe me I have nearly clicked them to death.... - . . . The manual is not being very helpful (cry)

I can't even hit the post button here properly.
