I have a logo with 100% black text in .eps format. When I export to .jpg from AI10, it looks like...well, it looks awful. So, I have been opening the .eps in PSCS and converting to .jpg that way. However, the 100% black turns to about 78% black on a Mac and 72% black on a PC. What's going on?

Oddcharacter is right, make certain your color settings for both applications are the same. Edit > Color Settings.

Okay, I did that, but I'm still getting the same results. Because I don't really understand what all the color settings mean and their implications, I've tried various settings, and I'm still not getting 100% black. Any further ideas?

What I generally do is a levels adjustment in Photoshop. Or set the Illustrator color settings to emulate Illustrator 6. Emulating Illustrator 6 is good if you're just trying to get densities the same. Blacks are problematic with current releases of Illustrator and the web.

Color management is a long, long issue to get into. There are miles of web pages you can read on it and it can be very complex.A few links that might help...

Thanks, Jolt. I did do the levels adjustment for a quick fix, but I didn't know if there was a more permanent solution. Thanks for the reading material. I figured it was/is a huge topic.
