The gap varies because the icons to the left of the text are adjusted according to the number of lines in the forum name and forum description. It looks like it's centering them accordingly.

Hmmmmm..I see what your screen shot is showing, Dave, but mine doesn't look that way at all.
any better dave?
nope :(
it shows with gaps on mine just like dave's. it almost looks as if some forums are subs of others. it has that windows tree-like effect.
im using ie 6.0 on winxp pro.

the advantage of only being 800px wide .... when I narrow my view right down it comes right.

The gaps between categories are intentional.
I can't figure out why there would be width problems though. I know.... if I get rid of the gaps the width problem will most likely be fixed.
hmmmm
The "table" code is a little too complex for me to follow with all those variables but this type of thing is usually caused by stating a mix of widths by actual value and then by percentages. The usual solution I've found is to NOT state all the values.
Give that man a big cigar! :)
YAY it's fixed !!!!!!!!!!

Yeha.. like I said.. somethign with space between categories causes it... I'll need to figrue that out before adding space back in.
The columns are probably percentage based as opposed to pixel based.
Oops...you guys already figured that out. :o

I've been through all this with little fairies and complicated triplet tables and 800 x 600 screen resolutions and .... :)
But this stuff has me totally floored!
