View Full Version : First contests.....

Okay everyone, we need some fantastic contests to run as our "first ever" contests. Since our membership is still rather small, instead of having pro, intermediate, and beginner contests, I think we'll just go with 3 different types of contests to start with. So, put on those thinking caps and let's see if we can come up with something really unique!

Have to confess I don't know everything that's been done or suggested or is even unique ....

- Merge elements of two or more paintings to make one new painting.

- Change the viewpoint of a well known painting (e.g. Mona Lisa ("La Giaconda") side on)

- I like alien stuff .....

Think brain damn you! :)

I have...and love the idea...and it will definitely be done...perhaps even in the first round of contests. :)

As a second thought, a real people-pleaser is a good before & after Restoration contest. It'll give first-time visitors a great concept of what PS'ing is and just what can be done in a realistic environment.
And it may excite some to see what else can be done 'Just for Fun'

How about a flora/fauna crossbreed contest? Animal contests are popular and make good e-mail fodder. ;)

For Illustration, I think an ad promoting PA in any way is in question. Something you can push off as a press release or ad. With the theme you have, the possibilities are endless.

For Photoshop, how about re-creating old propaganda posters to sell either...
something that is distinctly y2k or modern
or PA!

For Photography, you can do virtually anything.

So great to see all the yakking I've missed the past day or two! Like PDG mentioned in another thread, the weather is just too spectacular for me not to be out in it..except for the beach part he also mentioned tho.. :( :/

/off-topic :)

It's still in the percolating & hmmm stage, but I was thinking it might be appropriate to have one of the early contests about "Creation" or "Beginnings" or something along those lines...to coincide with the start-up of the site...maybe even something that would be rerun to mark each yearly anniversary..

What like - start a new tennis match off?

I've not played it before and I doubt I'm quick enough, but heck I've got nothing else to do! :)

Invisibles .... but remove the outer layer of clothing rather than the person .... as long as it is within the bounds of decency of course.

Remember, we're going to have to have three contests to start with...since we're going to be running three at a time. That means you have to come up with three ideas...:)

Dear P,A,Peeps:

coloring photo's is quite a diverse sort of operation. Have a few different types of coloring done with a theme post. Pick something simple and let people have at it. Something with a bit more detail and then go or a full blown room of menushia. With tons of details and things to do. get some photo's for restoration as well. there must be a market for such items

PLZZ guys dont mind my english is bit poor
if i make ne mistake so plz co operate with me
im a new user of photoshop if i take part in contest were professioanl also participates then it will discourage me to participate further
it will not only dicourage me but also to all beginners and some intermidiate also
so its better to drop this idea and follow the same trend like how it was started.

Dave

Shah there are regular contests for beginners that allow you to compete against other beginners. Intermediate contests are not being run at the moment but there is nothing stopping you from having a go at an advanced contest, you get to learn more by doing more. Be encouraged by your own improvement and the new techniques you get to grips with.

Your English is fine ... no problem :)
