Mozilla Firefox is not showing animated Gifs on my computer for some reason. It just shows the first frame. Any suggestions?

I have no clue. I see them fine on all my versions.

Is there a preference to allow animation? There is one in IE, they might have included something similar in Firefox.

The only culprit I could find was Zonealarm.

Hmm... looked through all the options and found nothing. It doesn't suprize me though. My mom's computer is retarded. :) I had to install firefox because Explorer causes it to crash (plus I can't uninstall explorer because its not listed under the installed programs list). Maybe its connected to that problem somehow, who knows. Oh well, its only a minor problem. thanks anyway.

On the subject of avatars, Why am I seeing links to them, as opposed to the image itself?

You may also want to do a quick check for spyware using Adaware and Spybot. Retarded behavior in IE usually means your computer has tons of spyware.

Trin, in the link below, do you have any of the option unchecked under 'Thread Display' options?

Well wouldn't you know it... that fixed it! thanks pal for doing the research for me. As for spyware, I scan this thing on a regular basis. My sister, mom, dad, and whoever else uses this are completely oblivious to that kind of stuff -

:type: "Hey look! A pop-up is flashing that says I won a new car! *click* " ... :bang:

I'm a big believer in Firefox. My computer is 99.9% less spyware-ridden because of it. I'm glad the problem is resolved and unrelated to Firefox :)

I agree, PDG! I'm trying to convert all of my "dad, mom, friend's parents, grandparent type..." (The ones who aren't so computer savvy at least.) I had the pleasure of ridding a machine of several thousands of traces of spyware and got them set up with FFox. All is well so far!

You may have seen this already, but here's a cool clip of FFox hitting the limelight:

http://www.boingboing.net/2004/12/01/video_of_abc_news_on.html

So after that all I've got to say is... I wish I wouldn't have upgraded to V1.0 :( . Basically had to start over because I had extensions that I (stupidly) tried to load that weren't compatible. argh! It kept giving me some jacked up error message and refused to launch. ugh. But I am up and running again. Did you have any troubles or are you still on .8?

At home (Mac) I was using FFox, but opted for Camino instead. Nice program and it does run faster than Safari!

I still run 0.9.3 on most of my machines at home. But I use 1.0 at work and it runs well. I have several plugins like "Double Click to Close Tab" that I can't depart with at home :)

I'll wait until it's supported to upgrade. Til then, anything besides IE is better. I'm spreading the word as best I can and everyone I've recommended it to calls me less and less about spyware. I may just lose all my friends because of Firefox :(

I've had no problems with it at all. (touch wood)

Perhaps your firewall is blocking the download?

At the top right of the firefox webpage just below the close window "X" on the same line as the main menu there is a small circle, click that and it will take you to the main Firefox page. There you can (re)install the latest version of Firefox and any extensions you want. I'm on version 1.0.2 and am not having any problems with it.

Make that version 1.0.3 as of this morning.
Also....how come when I click 'View Source' on my own html pages (on my pooter not online) I get what appears to be a code editor version as opposed to the notepad version????? I have dreamweaver...is it that takin over????
More than likely, these "new" bits of software like to take over the functions they're designed to do, notepad is not really that good at displaying a page of HTML, I've not used dreamweaver but I would imagine it would do the job better for someone that understands it ....

You would need to change your default settings to get it back to viewing with notepad.

I can't help with the non-image display problem, Firefox usually tells you if something like Java or Flash needs to be installed.

Gawd ... get a semi-decent HTML editor then! :)
