Well I started working on this last night thinking I had until tonight to enter. It is the first FF contest I have missed (arghhh!) Since I had done it I figured I might as well share it with you and get some input...What do you think?
Evolved in a strawberry and cream swirl desert (deliberate single "s" spelling) no doubt? :)
It may be the resizing but the lines seem to overflow the boundaries of the animal, I know you wouldn't do that burndog.

Thanks everyone, and Dave I was kind of going for the candy cane look, at least red and white for christmas colours, but you're right it kind of looks like those strawberry sweirlly things ( which I just love...they even have peach swirly things now)

Looks good! I'm wondering how you keep the shadows of the horse but got rid of the checker pattern. Did you just redraw shadows?

Well, it's a burndog's entry of course,... seems a little bit unfinished no?
further:
Mmmm swirly things...

basically I just followed the checkers to create stripes. It is all painted. I basically used a few different colours for the red and the white trying to keep the highlights and shadows so it would keep some sort of dimension. Always easier when you can just trace overtop.
