I know most of you won't see this until after the event but Jewels is taking part in a sponsered fun-run in aid of cancer charities this morning.

Wish her well everyone! :)

Just to let you know, she made it back in one piece and also alone raised £170 ($311) towards the fund, which was the second highest amount.

Group hugs will take place when there are enough of us online to make a group :)

Thanks everyone!

Big 3 cheers are due to Trin - for taking a sponsorship form into work with him and harrassing all his collegues til they agreed to sponsor me - he's responsible for a huge amount of the cash i collected so big THANK YOU'S are due to him!

Also 3 enormous cheers are due for my daughter Elise, who is 8 and who did the run with me - and completed the course in spite of a very bad stitch and very achey legs - WAY TO GO LITTLE 'UN!!!!

We were raising money to help fund the treatment of one of Elise's school friends who is currently battling the big 'C' (and kicking it's ass - way to go Emily!) and also for the charity CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia In Childhood) who have been very supportive to Emily and her family - so, as you say Silk, definatly a good cause!

My Mum had cancer (and thankfully has made a full recovery) and Trin's Dad also did - but tragically he did not recover....So, for both of us it is a cause close to our hearts.

Just to prove i can work my favourite hobby-horse into any conversation.... :)
My Mum reckons that the best thing about her treatment was that she got to join a free art-based support group - where she could go and just paint and paint and talk if she wanted to and not if she didn't - she absolutely loved it....The hospital made a book of patients art work and asked them to write little pieces about their pictures....My Mum is a very private person who doesn't really like to talk about any trouble she's dealing with and it was awful when she was being treated not really knowing how she was feeling and what was going on in her mind - but she just couldn't share it as she just doesn't find it easy to put these things into words....But the paintings themselves and the little paragraphs she wrote about them completely shook me to my core - through the art she could say what she couldn't put into words....I still cry just thinking about those paintings and words...I don't just think art is therapeutic, i think it really has healing powers too.

Ok, ramble over...

I think the phrase goes "Horses sweat, men perspire and ladies gently glow"!!

Well, i am still glowing like a good 'un....and Dave is right, I do need a shower - i hum!!!

And Jewels...I hope you stay around with us for a long long time to come! You are like a breath of fresh air to us all. :)

My dad died of cancer all to recently and I still miss him, I think I always will miss him. So I also think it's a great cause and not just because of my dad. There is someone else that is VERY dear to me ....

pause .................

I'm ready for that group hug now :)

Thank you so much Silk - I was worried yet again that i'd mucked up by being a bit too full on with emotional subject matter.....I'm one of these 'lets get it out there and talk about it and it's ok to cry about it and get upset and angry' types so i tend to just talk about anything and everything and am a bit blind to 'taboo' subjects which is not always a good thing - i do of course respect the fact that others have different approaches to these things but sometimes i speak first and think later - somedays i just seem to open my mouth long enough to change which foot i have inside it! I'm glad to hear i've kept it foot-free so far! :)

Jewels, as far as I'm concerned you just need to always say what's on your mind...:) No matter what, we'll accept it as it's presented. I'd much rather be able to speak my mind than worry about hiding things or not being myself. So...be yourself, and you'll always be welcome here. :)

Aaaw, you noticed! Well if there's one way to NOT make friends and influence people it's the post-run BO hug - so i thought i'd make the effort! :)

I know what you mean about the 'only yesterday' feeling - memory is a strange thing...I'm hoping mine will let me know soon where i put the really important paperwork i put down somewhere SAFE and have now completely forgotten where 'safe' is! The dirty clothes basket under my running socks i'd imagine!! :D

I'm glad to hear things are looking good for your friend, that's fantastic - yaaaay! :)
