View Full Version : Posting images...
Ok, I'm going crazy here...
I'm posting images but they show up as links and not images. Heres the code I'm using...without spaces ofcourse.
http://www.pixeladdiction.com/bb/attachment.php?attachmentid=49
I then uncheck "automatically parse links in text".
But a URL shows up! Arggh!

Is there still a maximum attachment size? When I was trying to upload the themepost yesterday, it kept telling me it was not a valid image format, I had to link it in the end.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, it just reminded me :)
Something I haven't even tried let alone thought about yet, is there a Remedial Moderating #101 class around here?

PDG, I used that same method and had no problems attaching my image. I'll have Jolt check out this post and see if he can figure out what the deal is.
Also, Trin....what format were you trying to upload?

More than three or four image in a post PDG? There's a switch that controls how images show. I'll look into it.

Okay Trinity.. I have no clue about your problem. the image seemed to attach just fine for me.. but you may want to use the jpg extension rather than jpeg. That may have been the issue.
PDG.... couple things I'll throw switches on. Currently the boards dont' like duplicate attachments from the same user. So if you upload the same attachment you may get links. More than 3 or 4 attachments in a single post and they show up as links rather than in line. i'll try and correct both of these so attachments just always sow up.
i'm thinking that it has something to do with the formatting of the url itself. When I post an image with a .gif or .jpg trailer, it appears.
If I post these types of links, http://www.pixeladdiction.com/bb/attachment.php?attachmentid=49, then it doesn't. Then again, the times it's happened I was posting about 4-5 images at once.
Testing .... Testing linked image

Most definitely. There's is a safety switch which prevents dynamic code in links. I turned that switch on simply because... well the forum package recommend it on and I don't know enough php yet to fix the board if someone were to hack it and break it. The dynamic code (?xxxx=) will always result in a link rather than inline.
Testing for attachment ??????
Okay .... so how do I make it a linked attachment?
yours,
Totally Confused

I've turned all those switches off :) except the dynamic code switch.

Actually if you want a image link you have to do it like your first post, Dave. Link to both the image and the url in yoru post. using the attachemnt button just won't work for linking off site with an image.

Nooooooo not that, how do I make the image itself an attachment like some of the new thread gifs are showing as a link to the attachment, because when I post it I don't know the URL it has been assigned.
The second image I uploaded to the site (attachment no #55)
Trying to make myself understood isn't easy when I'm dumb :)

Well.. now you can't :) I turned all that off. :) It used to be set that if there were more than 3 attachments they become links to download. I removed that setting.
