That's terrific, Trin. I look forward to your award winning shots.

Let me know what you think about the rebel. I'm still debating which slr to get.

Not sure about award winning :)

I'll let you know my views, a soon as I've had a decent play around with it. I think PDG has one, so he may be able to tell you some things before me.

Hey Trin,

I own a digital rebel and I love it. I blew the extra cash on ebay and bought a 4 gig microdrive so I could take picture upon picture and never have to worry about dumping the pictures on the computer until I was done.

Ley me know if you have any questions and I'll try to anser them.

Thanks Newby. I bought it mainly for freelance work, so I'll probably be using it in auto mode a lot of the time but I also want to play with manual stuff, coming from a Nikon 3100 where there's hardly any control, it's going to be fun :)

Dang...your photos are already top notch...I can only imagine the masterpieces you'll turn out now. :)

Congrats on the new toy, Trin!

Aww, thanks Silk! More luck than judgement mostly though.

and I always thought that the major part of a good photograph was the nut behind the view finder :)

Fantastic camera and silky smooth exposures. Even at night! Perfect for the person that's not sure whether they want an dSLR yet or not. I just got a remote capture for it and I'm quite pleased. Sharper pics with less camera shake.

I had been debating between the D70, 20D and Rebel. Ultimately, the D70 was grainier than the 300d and the 20D is just too pricey. You can probably find a used Rebel kit around $600 now I believe with the lens.

But, Trin, don't do Auto mode. Stick to Av mode if possible. Pics are considerably better and flash won't fire unless you specify it. And learn to love the RAW format. It's like having a digital negative.

Now I have an evil nemesis. This is fun :D

Trin,

One more thing incase you didn't know. There is a 1.6x factor on the camera, so whatever lense you use the focal lengths will be times by 1.6 especially if you're shoot macro. And PDG is right if you have the option shoot in raw format. It sucks up memory, but it is well worth it and doesn't degrade.

Congrats Trin, looking forward to seeing some output from it. And for what it's worth the more manual the better, try not to become attached to auto exposure except for snapshots. You are much more intelligent than the camera is and you need to show it who's the boss!

Thanks guys. I know it's going to take time to get used to, this is the first SLR of any kind I've used.

A weekend of intense shootage is called for :)

There are far too many twiddly bits on this camera!! Currently, I don't know my aperture from my elbow, I think it's going to take a while to understand it all :)

A (very) small selection of the best pics from its first outing are here (http://trinity-of-one.smugmug.com/gallery/287128).

What a wonderful portrait of Caramon. Definately a hard subject to capture.
Oh yeah - the other's are great too!

Thanks PDG/OHF, it's certainly going to take a bit of getting used to but that's half the fun :)
