I am in need of some assistance, please!!!
I am having the hardest time getting a cutout to look natual on a new background/picture.
Are there any tricks I should know about or any good tutorials out there that might help me. I tend to over work the pictures or make them too dark in all the wrong areas.
Please help...................I'm desperate!
Thanks - jen

Hi Jen...can you tell me specifically what areas you're having problems with? If you'd like you could send a copy of the image to me to look at. It might be easier to get a handle on what you need if I could see it. You can email it to silkenfairy@pixeladdiction.com if you'd like, and I could maybe give you a little push in the right direction. :)

Well Jen, I know 'bout that cutout thing... on of the worst infographist's nightmare is that fit on background monster. did you went to http://www.pixeladdiction.com/bb/tutorials.php?aid=14&page=1&topic= ??
Further, try to work on the lighting and shadows contrast etc... will complete the job.
Sometimes, when there are some little craps left, I must admit that I have no other solution than work them out at 300% view with a small brush and progressive selection.
Patience is the rule and intuition gets in most of cases what kind of tool you better use.

Another thing besides lighting and contrast that can make your cutout look unnatural is if it has a very hard edge. When you do your selection of the cutout set the feather to 3 (or 2). Another solution is to go around the edge of the cutout using the blur tool with the strength set low so you don't overdo the blurring.

Hi, I am brand new to this site. I do not use the burn and dodge tool for anything . . . except you can make a mask of your selection and use the burn and dodge tool to bring in little details or to get rid of problem areas. Example: Hair on a person or an animal.
