I'm hoping my son will be doing that for me in the near future and it will solve all my major problems .... mainly to do with lack of RAM when photoshopping.

Tell me about it, that and scratch disk space. One of the most annoying things is when you're adjusting curves or such lilke and the screen throws a wobbly and everything disappears until you let go of the mouse :(

My CPU takes lengthy breaks for no apparant reason .... or at least no reason my son could clearly diagnose ("It's knackered, dad"), it makes surfing the web a real pain. Working with large images in mask mode is an absolute nightmare the brush is 2 minutes behind me at times.

I did consider going down the Athlon route - I work on 2 Athlon based PCs at the office, I'm sticking to Intel for the time being :)
