why not allow images in sigs, but then just remove the users ability if they missuse the privilege.

Abuse isn't the issue.
A forum is meant to read. Any images appearing within the thread content should directly relate to the thread. Image signatures are simply distracting. They break up the flow of text. In addition, we do not want to have to monitor the forums for signature images. Admins are busy enough. The forums are meant to be read, not show off your skills, we have contests and galleries if you wish to show off your skills.
To me, image signatures are loud and obnoxious. They scream "HEY LOOK AT ME!"
And yes... in the end we'll have users that want to post ridiculously large images as signatures or more than one image as a signature and it gets to looking like a gallery, not a forum.

And I'm with Jolt on that one. Image signatures are, in the whole distracting and a waste of bandwidth.
Having said that, looking good fellas.

well, if you have particular rules, put up a rule about not having very screaming colors, like bright pink or something, only one image per sig, not bigger then like 460 wide x 60 high, and combine with the avatar, so if your avatar AND signature can be bigger than about 100kb or something.
and also, illegal to write "hey, look at me":p
seriously, i can personally take on the role of monitoring the sigs if you dont bother, it ads so much to the forums.
and YES im serious bout that, its more than an avatar, and avatar is so small, that you need to be a PS genius to make something noteworthy(i mean VERY notworthy, like jolts)

It's not going to happen, TCD. We have galleries and contests.. submit there if you want to show off work. Images in the signature tag add nothing to a site such as ours. We have huge areas where you can show off your work, it's not necessary in the forums.

I understand why not having sigs is a good thing. I'm tired of going to photoshop forums where the topic is 50 miles long and you have ot load all those images on a 56k modem. It is interesting though to see what people make for their sigs. That would be a cool contest.

My 2 cents is that avatars are enough, I like text signatures, I love seeing pics if it helps communicate a persons thoughts, but to see pictures at the end of each remark would get annoying.
