View Full Version : More Proof: Microsoft Innovations
So I delayed installing Service Pack 2 on my work computie for as long as I could. I figured I'd see how many computers had a meltdown first before I willingly imploded my own system. Well, the dust settled and I figured I'd go ahead with it.
Problem 1: Outlook Express no longer recognizes my password. All emails and contact info are locked inside and I can't get to it.
Observation 1: Microsoft is so smart, they thwart their own advertisers. I went to check my Hotmail acct. and got a system message. A new feature in SP2 is a pop-up killer. Take a look:

I just installed SP2 on one of my computers here at home....been a few days, no probs noticed yet. New firewall seems a nice addition. (even though I use a hardware Firewall intrinsic to my router)

I still haven't installed the SP2 to my computer. I just KNOW when I do I'm going to have a ton of problems! I think for right now, I'll take my chances without it.

I must agree. The last innovation Microsoft tried to come up with involved charging people to send emails :(

I have service pack 2 at home and do not seem to have any problems but I do not have much for hardware at home. At work however I had to remove it as I could not send files to a printer through the RIP software.

I haven't noticed any major problems. There's a minor hiccup when I access my work mail through a browser from home (bloody Lotus Notes). It won't install an ActiveX component but it's no biggy.
I don't use the firewall, as like TC, I have a hardware firewall. The M$ one seems to be tricky to configure though.
